treasure (a prayer for winter)

winter morning, the skern, appledore (p ward 2013) winter morning, the skern, appledore (p ward 2013)

.

there is treasure in our hearts

a fire in the hearth

a warmth throughout winter

in the dark wet days

 .

but if we let the cold in,

deliberating the salty dampness for too long, it will feed upon our restless spirits

holding us within the stagnant insipidity that demands compliance and agony –

we must break free, shake the shackles of downfall

I relish

I relinquish myself to

I recall

this rejuvenating wind, this cleansing rain, this liberating frost and snow

and await the spring with age-old assurance
